Christmas at Square

Dinner, drinks and a little music by the Abbey.

December is in full swing outside. Bath Abbey is lit, the streets are busy, and somewhere inside Square, the first notes of the evening are being played.

Come in.

We’re serving Christmas in the way we know best: good cooking, proper drinks and a room with plenty of life in it. Join us for lunch in the middle of a day in Bath, bring everyone together for dinner, or book the Christmas night out that begins with food and carries on around the piano.

You’ll find us right beside the Abbey and Roman Baths.

[ Our Christmas Menu is available for parties of 8 or more ]

When the Piano Starts

This is where Christmas at Square becomes rather different.

As dinner moves into evening, the piano begins.

Songs drift through the restaurant, another round appears at the table and the reservation that was supposed to be “just dinner” starts looking considerably less organised.

That’s perfectly fine with us.

Live piano is part of life at Square, and throughout December it gives Christmas evenings here their own rhythm. There’s no separate show to book and nowhere else you need to go afterwards.

Your table is already in the right place.

PRIVATE DINING ROOMS at Square.

There are two rooms above and beyond the main restaurant, each with a very different character.

The Roman Room

Part of Bath is quite literally built into this one.

Converted from the old Roman Baths kitchens, The Roman Room has aged oak floors, a chandelier, Venetian-style walls and its own private bar. With space for up to 30 guests seated, it suits Christmas dinners where you’d like to shut the door and have the evening to yourselves.

The Abbey Room

Larger, lighter and overlooking one of Bath’s most recognisable corners, The Abbey Room accommodates up to 50 guests seated.

Antique timber floorboards, floral details and paintings of Bath give it the character of a proper room rather than a conventional function space — particularly lovely once the city outside has lit up for Christmas.

Two rooms. One very good excuse to get everyone together..

Square Gift Vouchers

For someone who’d rather go out than unwrap something.

Give them breakfast by the Abbey. Afternoon tea. Steak and a bottle of red. Dinner with live piano. Cocktails on a Saturday night.

A Square gift voucher doesn’t decide the evening for them — it simply gives them a good reason to have one.

Particularly useful for the name still sitting blank on your Christmas list.

The Christmas Night Out

Walk out of Square in December and there is no mistaking where you are.

Bath Abbey is beside you. The Roman Baths are a few steps away. The centre of the city stretches out in every direction.

That makes us an easy place to begin, end or disappear into for a few hours.
